God's Love Gift

Posted on March 06 2022

Children are indeed a heritage and gift from the Lord, and there is much in Scripture that gives parental guidance on the godly upbringing of their offspring.

For example, the Bible tells us in Exodus 20:12: "Honor your father and mother."

In Matthew 19:19 Jesus says, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," and Paul further elaborates in Galatians 5:14 that this includes our children.

In Proverbs 22:6, we are taught to train up a child "in the way he should go"

And Ephesians 6:4 admonishes fathers not to provoke their children but to nurture them with the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

We also find in Deuteronomy 6 that parents should teach their children the law of God when they lie down, rise up, walk by the way, or sit at home (see also Psalm 78:5).

Proverbs 13:24 states that those who spare the rod hate their children but those who love them discipline them early.

These are just a few scriptural references to parenting.

As you embark on the exciting journey of parenthood, may you be blessed and may your child live a long and healthy life in His image.
